The reformation brought in the field of nursing by Florence Nightingale had resulted in a change in the outlook of nursing in India. A need was felt for professional nursing care for the British troops, which led to the establishment of Army Nursing Services in 1881 in Britain, subsequently, the Military Nursing Service in India started in March 1888, when the first batch of British Army Nurses arrived in India to serve in the hospitals for British troops. The nursing service was designated the Indian Army Nursing Service (IANS) in 1896. In 1902, Queen Alexandra became the first president of the British Army Nursing Service in United Kingdom and a year later IANS was converted into Queen Alexandra’s Military Nursing for India (QAMNS).
During the First World War, dire need of nursing care for Indian soldiers was recognized and a Temporary Indian Nursing Service (TINS) was started in 1914. Indian Military Nursing Service
On 01st October 1926, it was decided to have a permanent nursing service in the Indian Army and the nursing service for Indian troop hospitals came into being with a total number of 55 nurses. In 1927, the designation of the Nursing Service for Indian troop hospital was changed to Indian Military Nursing Service .With the outbreak of World war II in 1939, 313 nurses were sanctioned for the nursing services for the British Army stationed in India, including 55 nurses of the Indian Military Nursing Service.Registration for online applications will open from- 11 May 2022 to 31 May 2022 on

On successful completion of Nursing Training (4 years), the candidates will be granted Permanent/Short Service Commission in the Military Nursing Service, under the Terms and Conditions laid down for grant of such Commission.

The shortlisted candidates based on merit of NEET (UG) score will be called for an Objective Computer Based Test (CBT) of General Intelligence and General English (ToGIGE) of 80 marks. Thereafter, the candidates will be subjected to a Psychological Assessment Test (PAT), Interview and Medical Examination at a designated venue. Final selection will be based on combined merit of NEET (UG) 2022 score, CBT and Interview, subject to medical fitness.
The registration numbers (Reference No) of the candidates who are shortlisted for screening at designated venue based on NEET (UG) - 2022 merit will be displayed at the website https://joinindianarmy.nic.in/. The shortlisted candidates will be called for ToGlGE, PAT, Interview and Medical examination at a designated venue. The admit card for the same can be downloaded from https://joinindianarmy.nic.in/.
: All shortlisted candidates will be required to produce all original documents as listed in the admit card at the time of interview for verification. lt is the responsibility of the candidate to be in possession of all original documents at the time of Interview. The shortlisted candidates, if not in possession of documents as per eligibilfty criteria or at any stage of the selection process, if it is found that the information provided has been willfully concealed or misrepresented will lead to disqualification from the selection process / loss of candidaturer
Test of General Intelligence & General English (ToGlGE) will be in the form of Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of 40 MCQs of two marks each for maximum marks of 80. There will be negative marks of 0.5 for every incorrect answer. These 40 questions will be required to be answered in 30 mins.
The PAT is a qualifying examination and the score will not be considered for preparing final merit list.
: The candidates will be interviewed by a Board of Officers at a designated venue.
All shortlisted candidates will undergo Special Medical Board (SMB) at a designated venue. Candidates declared FIT/UNFIT in medical examination will be informed about their medical status, including the procedure of requesting for Appeal Medical Board by the President Special Medical Board.
The selected candidates shall execute an Agreement/Bond to serve in the Military Nursing Service (MNS), Armed Forces Medical Services at the time of admission. During training they will be provided with free ratlon, accommodation, uniform allowance and monthly stipend as per terms and conditions as amended from time to time. On successful completion of BSc Nursing course of four years, the candidates will be granted Permanent/short Service Commission in the Military Nursing Service, under the terms and conditions laid down for grant of such commission. In the event of withdrawal from the course, termination of training or refusal to accept Commission in the MNS, if offered, they will have to refund the Bond money Agreement/Bond executed.

The date of declaration of result from respective Universities will be the date of Commission for the candidates. The date of Commission determines the date of seniority in service among all candidates who have joined the course in the same year. The commencement and completion of course depends on the respective affiliated University norms.
